Since it’s beginning in 1977, the Star Wars franchise has exploded in popularity throughout the past few decades. This incredible world of Star Wars includes an epic story through many genres of mythology. From movies and video games to books and toys, the story of Star Wars is told through many years of media. This epic franchise by George Lucas continued under his name until The Walt Disney Company bought rights in 2012 for $4.05 billion. Now, Star Wars splits into two main categories. These include the Star Wars Legends and Star Wars Canon, with the Canon as the official storyline. The complete Star Wars timeline bases events and years off of the Battle of Yavin. The Battle of Yavin essentially marks year zero on the timeline. From this, “BBY” refers to Before the Battle of Yavin, and “ABY” refers to After the Battle of Yavin.
